In the shadow of Mount Pellegrino sits the capitol of Sicily, Palermo. Founded by Phoenician traders in the 8th century BC, the Palermo Cathedral, Teatro Massimo, and Palazzo dei Normanni are just a few of the many must see sites in the ancient city.
In a breathtaking valley with flowering almond trees, rests the most impressive monumental collection of Hellenic architecture in all of Sicily. In this amazing blend of man-made structures and natural landscape lies all the allure of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The medieval town of Cefalù has an unforgettable landscape capped by a colossal rock called the promontory of Hercules, on which stands the Temple of Diana. Thirty minutes south, Castelbuono is situated in the Madonie mountain range with its Castle perched on the Colle San Pietro.
On day seven, our group will take a trip to Carini (Francesco’s hometown) and Borgo Parrini. Carini’s beaches, castle, and shopping make it a popular destination while the artistic alleys and cobblestone walkways add to the village’s allure. We’ll end the day with dinner prepared by a special local chef.
